On a more positive note...
After my slightly ranty go at Torchwood yesterday, I thought I'd actually mention a few things that I am really looking forward too based upon the spoilers...

- Less emo!Jack. We need a bit of emo!Jack because you know he has huge issues (like the fact that he's got to consistently watch all who he loves grow old and die around him for just a start) but I'm glad there'll be a better fun!Jack/emo!Jack balance.

- More competence (according) to the writers. Because seriously they were the most inept top secret supposedly top dollar team ever in big chunks last series. It was amusing but laughing AT them grows old after a while.

- Martha. She's older, wiser, confident, working for UNIT. What's not to love. And her continuing relationship with Jack obviously. I love the friendship between Jack and Tosh and I think this has the same, if not more potential. Two words JB has said make me squee - 'trust' and 'love'.

- Gwen stops messing Rhys around. Hurrah!

- Episode 3 - To The Last Man: Toshiko falls for a handsome soldier, trapped out of his time, who unwittingly holds the key to saving the world. When an old hospital haunted by ghosts from 1918, a crisis foreseen by Torchwood 90 years ago is about to reach its climax. Time zones are colliding and with life and death decisions to be made, will Torchwood be able to stop an explosive end for Cardiff? Sounds like to me that one has the potential to be a massive heart breaker.

- Episode 10 - Coming Out Of The Rain: Cardiff is visited by black and white movie people from the 1920's, who appear out of moving film.
Firstly, this sounds equal parts overwhelming creepy and interesting. Secondly, this is PJ Hammond's episode by all accounts. Small Worlds was, without a doubt, my favourite episode of all by a long way last year. It was creepy as hell, Jack was genuinely scared which scared and worried us, we got (for the first time) a sweet story of Jack's past about him properly falling in love rather than just his sexual escapades and there was no happy ending. No resolve. No one saved the day. I loved the idea that some things are too big, too old and too ancient to stand in the way of and that Jack was the only one with the experience to know that. He's fought in several ways after all, I'm sure he knows all about sacrifice and how sometimes the only time to save the many is to lose the few.

See, not all doom and gloom from me?

Even better, I didn't get one person go off on one at me yesterday for flying in the face of popular majority and saying 'Jack/Ianto? It makes no sense!'. There's a few fandoms who I can think of where people would go bat shit crazy under similar circumstances. Obviously the TW fandom rocks and is full of people who are capable of having differing opinions without starting war. Big thumbs up.

Maybe the TW fandom is full of scarred fans, who's been through a few phases of batshitcrazy and have since decided it's not worth it. No, just me then? Ah well, I might be generally behind the times in fandom these days, but I'm not getting myself kicked off anywhere.

I wonder if episode three has a special visit from Derek Acorah?

I'm feeling very optomistic on the whole TW thing at the moment.
