Anyway, the film...
Excellent stuff. Really very good. Not one to watch over and over again I think but a very interesting and enjoyable film. Surprisingly funny too. Tom Hanks yet again plays a role you think he should fail at - I don't really look at him and think 'hard-drink, women-loving, slightly dodgy congressman' - but pulls it off brilliantly. And he even flashes his arse for good measure. Julia Roberts isn't in it much but she's good at what she has to do. And consider the woman's had twins she's in amazing shape.
Philip Seymour Hoffman is just utterly brilliant. By god does he deserve that Oscar nomination. It's just one of those performances where he just envelops the character to a stage where you can hardly fathom it's an actor playing a role.
The ending is rather touching too, especially when you know what happened next.
Would totally recommend it.
