When 'Epic Fail' really does apply...
I absolutely loved 90's classic 'The Crystal Maze' but I hope and pray this isn't true.

I mean, it can't be, right? There is no way that even ITV can fail so epically to understand what worked about the original show, can they?

The host has to be a quirky eccentric who can sell the silly stories, run around like a maniac and look at the contestants with utter disdain.

The contestants have to be people off the street who we can holler abuse at for their sheer, unbridled stupidity.

Please ITV, don't do this!

(Although I did like suggestions somewhere that Bill Bailey should present it - that would work much better)

God I nearly spat my diet coke all down my dressing gown when I clicked on that link! Surely an idiot can tell that that just doesn't work!

According to what I've seen elsewhere on the net apparently it's any idiot except those working at ITV...

We can only hope, for the sake of mankind, that the story is nonsense...

I just cannot believe how completely they've failed to grasp what people liked about it!

NO!!!!

No, no, no!

Yes to what you said. We used to spend that hour yelling at the TV. I wasn't keen on Ed Tudor-Pole, but Richard O'Brien was awesome. I have fond memories of "Mumsy".

Bill Bailey would be awesome. He could wander around insulting people, and from time to time produce various musical instruments and do an inpromptu song. Come to think of it, didn't R. O'B do that with a mouth organ?

See, I didn't mind Ed. He wasn't as good as Richard but he was still quirky enough to pull it off.

Bailey would be wonderfully off beat and random enough to make it work.
